Land use and Land cover in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Based on Google Earth Engine

Wednesday, February 7, 2024, a seminar was presented by (Dr.Hemn Abdulkhaliq Gaznayi) President of Century Organization for Environment and Humanitarian Relief (COEHR) for Salahaddin University_Erbil/ College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences under the title: ( Land use and Land cover in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Based on Google Earth Engine), a significant number of university lecturers and staff of the organization were participated. Changes in land cover can have significant impacts on the environment. Deforestation, for example, can lead to loss of habitat for certain species and contribute to climate change by reducing carbon storage. Similarly, urban development can alter hydrologic patterns and increase the risk of flooding. Monitoring land cover trends and understanding their effects is crucial for making informed decisions about land use and conservation efforts.
